I lost a part of the remote so it’s now directly controlled below the seat. The dropper I installed is a Giant Contact 75mm post. Now for more snow fun!

Colloquially known as an ass blaster. All my mtn bike buddies are super jealous of my ass blaster

Isn’t the purpose of a dropper post so that you can drop that thing on the fly while riding? Is that possible when the remote is mounted below the seat?

Ok, I don’t get it. What is the purpose of this thing? Why would you need to quickly change saddle height?

I use mine for trail mountain biking. Going up hill, you want the seat high for efficient pedaling. Going down hill, you want it down and out of the way for jumping and moving your body around.

I thought that too. But if he mostly does rides that are climb->descend instead of climb->descend->climb->descend->climb->descend, then it wouldn’t be too big of a deal to just hit it at the top of the hill one time.

I use it so I can either be at road bike seat height (high) or stupidity mode (low and usually results in fucking up a shoulder) while bombing around campus.

Nice, did you get it new, or used? I’ve been looking for a good dropper that isn’t stupid expensive, but I am weary of the cheap knockoffs. I had a knockoff gravity dropper, and it was frustrating up until it finally broke. I love being able to change seat heights on the trail. It makes descending so much faster.

I got it (new-ish, as it was taken from a brand new bike) but the seat rail clamp just needs some carbon grease to applied so it won’t slip if you land on the post.
I have a 100 version on my Focus, and it works very well. The remote is questionably good, but I’m waiting for the eggheads at wolf tooth to stock on the ReMote dropper remote.
These are pretty good priced on eBay and you can replace the cartridge within pretty easily.
